A portrait of Isabelle Allende for #vproGids for a beautiful interview she gave in occasion of the publishing of her new book The Wind Knows My Name.

Isabel Allende always tries in her own way to incorporate politics and contemporary subjects in her writing; this last novel is about the unforgivable struggle of migrant children, and about the people who help.

In the illustration I was working from the magic surrealism element that is often present in her work, but also from the idea, as she writes in her interview, that art can be a safe haven through the struggle, as it was for her, even when we know it’s all just a story we tell ourselves to survive.
