Baschira

I got to illustrate Baschira’s first album:) Baschira is actually a hyper local project for me; the band’s name is inspired by an actual historical figure born in Budrio (Bologna) super close to where I am from. His name was Prospero Baschieri (Baschira, in the local dialect) born a peasant and later a fighter who lived in the early 1800, around the time Napoleon’s troops occupied that part of Italy (which was not italy at the time).

He escaped conscription twice, and became one of the main figures of the local resistance against the French in that period. He was very loved until he eventually got caught and killed, his body brutally maimed, and official accounts tried to pass down his history as the one of a mere criminal.

“Zsdasdat” means wake up in Bolognese dialect.
