Democracy is struggling

Illustrations for the November book review section:

1. Something about democracy failing us spectacularly. Governments not listening to people after 2 consecutive years of protests, ultra right marching in the street, Pandora’s vase breaking down -but turns out hope is the worse of all demons hidden inside it. Directly inspired by Den Haag last September —>in the middle of a riot, guys standing under ☔
2. For the review of Kiran Desai’s “Sonia and Sunny”. The protagonist becomes the trees of her story (“You become what you write” as Desai says) but she hesitates unconvinced trying to add in A PEAR to avoid “Orientalist Clichés” (as advised by her white boyfriend).
3. Zelda Fitzgerald, Sylvia Plath, Jane Bowles, geniuses that could not fit in; for “Heroines” by Kate Zambreno.
