Illustrations for June/July book review section
- For the review of “De mooiste brieven van Kartini”. A feminist before this term existed, Raden Adjeng Kartini, although limited as a woman by the conventions of the times she lived in, kept a prolific correspondence discussing with many other Indonesian women authors. All this in just 25 years of her life! Too short Contrary to belief she was not a princess⚔️ but she was sometimes called lioness
- A beautifully written piece by Wytske Versteeg, in which she reviewed Crudités by Anneke Brassinga. Rosa Luxembourg on the left, sitting on the table. *Remember to always wash your salad.
- Over the collegial exchange btw authors Renate Dorrestein and Alex Boogers.
- Jan Wolkers “Dagboek 1968”, nor me nor the editor had the copy at the time of the illustration making, we just knew it was a journal, something describing threesomes and protesting the Vietnam war -but better keeping it general.
- Something about Nature inspiring people to revolution for “Een Nieuw geluid, De geboorte van de moderne poëzie in Nederland 1900-1940” (always enjoy working with @janssensasja texts). All references to contemporary circumstances fully intentional, obv.
- For the absurd stories of Het gore left by Sarah Arnolds.
